Privacy Policy for Decompressly

Effective: October 16, 2026

Decompressly is made by Pulsely (“we”, “us”). It opens and extracts archives on Mac, iPhone and iPad. This policy explains in plain language how it handles your information.

In short

  • Decompressly does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information.
  • Your archives and their contents never leave your device. Everything is opened and extracted locally.
  • The app has no network access at all. It cannot connect to the internet.
  • There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Information we collect

None. Decompressly has no accounts or sign-in, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and does not send us any data about you, your device or how you use the app.

Your files

All archives are opened and extracted on your own device. Decompressly only reads the archives you give it, and it only writes the folders and files it creates for their contents. It never changes or deletes your original archive. Your files are never uploaded, copied to us or shared with anyone.

On iPhone and iPad, when another app (such as Mail or Safari) shares an archive with Decompressly, iOS gives the app its own copy of the file. Decompressly deletes these copies when you clear finished archives from its list, or automatically after a day.

What the app stores on your device

To work, Decompressly keeps a small amount of information only on your device:

  • Your settings: the folder you chose to extract into (if any) and, on Mac, whether to show extracted files in Finder.
  • Folder permissions: the folders you have allowed Decompressly to save into, so it doesn't have to ask you again.

This information never leaves your device through Decompressly. If your device backs up app data (for example, to iCloud Backup or a Time Machine drive), it may be included in that backup under your own Apple account and settings, like any other app's settings. Deleting the app removes it.

Permissions

Decompressly can only open the files and folders you choose. On Mac, it may also save into your Downloads folder without asking, so archives you download can be extracted right away. For any other folder, macOS asks you first. Decompressly never uses your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos library.

Network connections

Decompressly does not connect to the internet. On Mac, it is built without network access, so it has no way to send anything anywhere. It works fully offline.

Third-party services

Decompressly contains no third-party services that collect data, and no analytics libraries or advertising networks. It reads archives with libarchive, an open-source library built into Apple's operating systems, which runs entirely on your device.

You download Decompressly through Apple's App Store, which is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you choose to share crash reports or usage data with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. These contain no personal information or file contents.

Children's privacy

Decompressly does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country).

Changes to this Privacy Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the policy inside the app, and change the effective date above. Because we don't collect information, a change will never apply to information collected before it.
