Privacy Policy for QualityReducer

Effective: October 16, 2026

QualityReducer is made by Pulsely (“we”, “us”). It makes images and PDFs smaller on your Mac. This policy explains in plain language how it handles your information.

In short

  • QualityReducer does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information.
  • Your images and PDFs never leave your Mac. Everything is reduced locally.
  • The app has no network access at all. It cannot connect to the internet.
  • There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Information we collect

None. QualityReducer has no accounts or sign-in, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and does not send us any data about you, your Mac or how you use the app.

Your files

All images and PDFs are processed on your own Mac. QualityReducer only reads the files you drop on it, or that are inside folders you drop on it, and it only writes the reduced copies it creates, into the output folder shown in the app. It never changes or deletes your original files. Your files are never uploaded, copied to us or shared with anyone.

Metadata in your files

Photos can contain metadata such as camera details, the date taken and GPS location, and PDFs can contain a title, author, subject and keywords. By default, QualityReducer keeps this metadata in the reduced copy. If you turn on Remove metadata (EXIF, GPS), it is left out. Either way, the metadata stays in your files on your Mac; it is never sent to us.

What the app stores on your Mac

To work, QualityReducer keeps a small amount of information only on your Mac:

  • Your settings: the quality level you chose and whether to remove metadata.
  • Folder permission: the output folder you chose (if any), so the app can keep saving there without asking you again.

This information never leaves your Mac through QualityReducer. If your Mac backs up app data (for example, to a Time Machine drive), it may be included in that backup, like any other app's settings. To remove it completely, delete the app and its folder at ~/Library/Containers/com.pulsely.imagequalityreducer.

Permissions

QualityReducer runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can only open the files and folders you give it. It may save into your Downloads folder without asking, so reduced files have somewhere to go right away. For any other folder, you choose it yourself first. QualityReducer never uses your camera, microphone, location, contacts or Photos library.

Network connections

QualityReducer does not connect to the internet. It is built without network access, so it has no way to send anything anywhere. It works fully offline.

Third-party services

QualityReducer contains no third-party services that collect data, and no analytics libraries or advertising networks. It reduces images and PDFs with ImageIO and PDFKit, which are built into macOS and run entirely on your Mac.

You download QualityReducer through Apple's Mac App Store, which is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you choose to share crash reports or usage data with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. These contain no personal information or file contents. You can turn this off in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Children's privacy

QualityReducer does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country).

Changes to this Privacy Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the policy inside the app, and change the effective date above. Because we don't collect information, a change will never apply to information collected before it.
